I'm not really sure where my love for chickens and roosters comes from but there is definitely a love there! There are many dozens of them around my home- ceramic and porcelain, paintings, dishes... even a couple made out of rush and a HUGE topiary rooster made of wire.
Seemed only natural that eventually that some would end up in collage. It was about time!
It began with this chicken wire gift wrap from the dollar bin at Michaels...
There was no problem finding chicken and sunflower images in my collection.
Always, when I'm beginning to put a collage together there are doubts. It simply never looks the way it did in my head but I know that the trick is to keep going- continuing to build layer upon layer with images, paint, some chipboard for dimension and then, suddenly...
It all starts to come together.
When the last lines of pen and bits of glitter have been added it's always a very satisfying moment.
But truth be told, most times I've already got another one in my head and I can't wait to move on...
Another day, another idea.
