a-b-c... easy as 1-2-3...

sorry, I'm having a Jackson 5 flashback from the 60's...

I fell in love with this plate at the thrift store. It was ugly. and silver. and it had a twin. Why someone had thought painting them silver would look cute, I'll never know. I guess 'to each his own', but, really, c'mon. So I picked up the pair for $3 and set to redoing them.

Rustoleum spray paint. What can I possibly say about spray paint that hasn't already been said? It's probably the best tool a girl could have. Turns an ugly duckling into a swan. A glossy white swan. Now all it needed was some red acrylic paint detail. Somehow, I didn't quite think painting that little alphabet was gonna be so hard- I used to be really good at work like this. But then, that was 20 years ago when my eyes could actually see without reading glasses. This was a little more challenging than I remembered!

Next up- a really ugly antiqued gold candlestand. Looked like it was from the 80's when all that gold junk was 'in'. But for $2 it was worth a fresh coat of glossy red paint. Hello? Liberace? yeah, I've got your missing candlestand...

It only took a little Gorilla Glue (another one of those 'girl's best friends'!) to stick the painted plate to the newly-red candlestand.

I added a glass dome orphaned from a cheese board and voil`a. Now look at it!

Love.

For less than $5. Can't beat that!
